The Occupational Health Nurse is an advanced nurse generalist applying clinical occupational nursing practices in a stand-alone focus facility medical station. You may be assigned special assignments and to support the local Human Resources and Environmental Health and Safety department’s strategy. You will serve as a highly skilled, autonomous occupational health nurse within the Corporate Medical Department, servicing stakeholders that may include Operations, EH&S, HR organizations, Compensation and Benefits and the Corporate Medical team. What You Will Do: Delivery of comprehensive nursing services related to employee illness and injury. Function as an autonomous nurse with the ability to respond independently to the majority of clinical situations. Respond to and lead on-site medical emergency response. Represent the Corporate Medical Department, its policies and strategy. Seek ways to innovate, improve and create best-in-class occupational medical practices. Provide case management services for employees on occupational health injuries. Act as the centralized repository for medical data and the HIPAA-compliant liaison. Receive and critically evaluate medical documentation to determine the need for medical leave and the appropriateness of both medical restrictions and accommodations. Consult and provide feedback to employees and providers on evidence bases practice guidelines. Assist occupational physicians in evaluating employee readiness for return-to-work. Compile and maintain accurate and complete records within appropriate database(s). Encourage and facilitate employee engagement in wellness initiatives, providing education and resources that support their overall well-being. Assist on site Environmental Health and Safety team in injury investigations, safety walks and other support as needed

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Illinois
  • On the job-related experience in occupational medicine or acute care.
  • Ability to learn and manipulate various online databases.
  • Ability to work autonomously with limited direct supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Outstanding clinical skills and judgment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organization skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental health and safety practices.
  • Knowledge in various areas of occupational health and Human resources.
