The primary purpose of this role is to provide direct medical care and health-related support to employees, ensuring their well-being in the workplace. It exists to manage occupational health programs, workplace injuries, and regulatory compliance, while also promoting wellness initiatives and facilitating safe return-to-work processes. This position serves as a key resource for both preventive care and incident response, contributing to a healthier and safer work environment

Requirements

  • Registered RN
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ current nursing experience.
  • Extensive knowledge and skill in nursing with the ability to implement programs/activities.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Self-motivated and possess excellent reading, writing, listening, and verbal skills.
  • Ability to respond to trouble calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Ability to maintain direction and focus while working alone for extended periods.
  • Firm dedication to confidentiality, integrity, and credibility.
  • Proficient in computer software.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Occupational Health Nursing
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in Occupational Health Nursing.
  • CPR trained
  • Case management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct medical care and consultation to employees (e.g., blood pressure checks, minor injuries, wellness advice).
  • Oversee and manage workers’ compensation claims, including physician referrals, case management, and statutory reporting.
  • Administer and coordinate pre-employment and periodic health screenings (e.g., hearing, vision, drug testing, physicals).
  • Coordinate appointments and assist with visits from the plant physician.
  • Maintain and distribute inventory of safety and first aid supplies, over-the-counter medications, and other medically necessary items.
  • Lead and support corporate and local health and wellness initiatives (e.g., Health Fairs, Biometric Screenings, Fitness & Nutrition Awareness).
  • Develop and deliver training programs (e.g., CPR, First Aid, AED, Bloodborne Pathogens, Hearing Conservation, Heat Stress).
  • Assist EHS Coordinators with compliance with Bloodborne Pathogens Program, including waste disposal and exposure control planning.
  • Coordinate and manage the Hearing Conservation Program, including annual testing, training, and compliance audits.
  • Assist with industrial hygiene and noise monitoring assessments.
  • Continuously improve occupational health programs through benchmarking and best protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
