General Summary: The primary role of the Registered Nurse is to implement the patient care delivery model for the patient and their family. Additionally, the registered nurse is responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating, the care provided to assigned patients. The unit consists of single patient care rooms, which can also be isolation rooms. Supervisory Responsibilities: General Requirements: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. All duties performed will be done accurately and in a timely manner. The registered nurse collaborates and communicates with inter-disciplinary care providers in developing and assisting in plan of care. Observe and record patient behavior. Collect patient health history. Research ways to improve healthcare processes and improve patient outcomes. Other duties as assigned. Essential Job Responsibilities: Organizes and prioritizes and updates plan of care in collaboration with patient, family, and significant others in an observation unit. Identifies patients at risk for injury regarding diagnosis, medication, procedure, age, etc., and prepares room environment. Perform physical examinations and diagnostic tests. Administer medication, change wound dressings and care for other treatment options. Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate. Consult with administration and providers to decide on the best treatment plan for patients.
