As the OB Nurse Educator, you will coordinate and instruct programs related to pregnancy, childbirth, lactation, newborn care, and the adjustment of the new family. You will serve as a clinical expert and mentor to OB staff, supporting both routine and high‑risk, low‑volume situations through simulation, direct instruction, and leadership. Other responsibilities include: Provide education to staff related to Labor & Delivery and Maternal–Newborn care. Lead drills and simulations to improve readiness for high‑risk, low‑volume scenarios. Assist the Director with orienting, training, and mentoring staff; coordinate and evaluate preceptor and orientation programs. Evaluate departmental learning needs and develop/implement educational processes (classroom, skills lab, bedside coaching). Help teach Prenatal classes and the Mom’s Connect – Virtual Postpartum Support Group. Obtain/maintain Certified Lactation Counselor credential and help cover lactation visits in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Participate in hospital committees, quality initiatives, shared leadership groups, public relations, and community education. Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining policies consistent with evidence‑based practice. Facilitate documentation processes and assist in planning and conducting physician and staff meetings. Introduce/demonstrate new equipment, techniques, and products; validate competencies. Provide direct and indirect patient care in Obstetrics/Nursery as needed. Maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, physicians, and other hospital staff. Assist patients, families, and providers during stressful or crisis situations. Support management of obstetric/nursery facilities, equipment, supplies, and materials.
