Basic Job Functions: The role of the Roll Mill/Finishing shift supervisor includes, but is not limited to, coordinating the plant safety/quality culture and operational processes for the production team. They will take a leadership position at all times in regard to the Nucor Yamato Steel initiatives of providing an injury free workplace - team development and improving bottom line results. They will be expected to work toward and support the short and long term goals of Nucor, NYS, and the Rolling Mill. This position will require working on multiple tasks, communicating with all departments, and developing the team in order to take care of our customers in all aspects including Quality/Productivity and Costs. The position will require rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, along with other activities on days off if necessary and as needed. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.Minimum Requirements: One year of leadership experience at a steel millDetailed Selection Criteria: Leadership Presence and Courage: Willingness and confidence to have immediate and direct conversations on critical alignment issues such as teamwork, building relationships, initiating, and supporting change, and production process issues that arise. This includes the willingness to face adversity and conflict head on. Business Acumen: General business knowledge and an understanding of how Nucor makes money. Developing and Building Teams: Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members as well as effectively managing and resolving conflict as needed. Judgment/Decision Making: Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. Thinking Skills: Ability to analyze problems and think rationally under pressure. Teamwork: Working as part of a coordinated effort with others to achieve a common goal. Initiative/Innovative: Being proactive with seeking out work that needs to be done and being willing to take on responsibilities and challenges to include introducing new ideas for the continuous improvement of the work area. Communication Skills: The ability to give full attention to what others are saying and communicating information so that others will understand, to include using all Microsoft Office programs.Preferences: Knowledge of the Roll Mill, Finishing, and Roll Shop processes
