About The Position

Performs nutritional activities of the department. Coordinates educational needs for program development and creation of training materials. Performs patient assessments and counseling, as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Current Registered Dietician Certification with the Commissions on Dietetic Registration in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in clinical pediatric nutrition
  • Experience with NICU/pediatric nutrition support

Responsibilities

  • Develops program policies and guidelines and develops patient educational materials.
  • Evaluates program outcomes and developing annual program goals.
  • Identifies high risk nutritional status; follows up on findings; interprets records statistics for population.
  • Provides nutritional counseling to women with diabetes pre-conception, antepartum and postpartum.
  • Assesses nutritional and educational needs of patient's being sensitive to cultural differences, preferences and educational barriers.
  • Documents nutrition information discussed, written materials provided and evaluation of patient's receptiveness and comprehension of the education provided.
  • Develop and implement individualized nutrition plans for premature and critically ill infants
  • Monitor growth parameters, nutrient intake to optimize nutritional support and clinical outcomes
  • Provide evidence-based recommendations and educations regarding nutrition management
  • Strong interdisciplinary collaboration
