About The Position

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience in foodservice; supervisory or lead experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of USDA school meal regulations and food safety standards (e.g., HACCP).
  • ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to team collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing operations, including preparing and cooking foods according to established recipes.
  • Assist in the supervision and training of cafeteria staff.
  • Organize daily work schedules and assign tasks to ensure timely food preparation and service.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local food safety regulations and school district guidelines.
  • Monitor food portioning, presentation, and quality for consistency and adherence to menu plans.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, students and Food Service Director.
  • Assist in inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and storage of food and supplies.
  • Handle minor performance issues under the direction of the Food Service Director. Report any grievances to the Food Service Director.
  • Prepare production logs, and ensure accurate recordkeeping.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director.
