This position performs professional public health nutrition work within the Women, Infants & Children Program (WIC) and the Okaloosa County Health Department (OCHD). It provides services to clients of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program and certifies clients for participation in the WIC program in accordance with the policies of the state WIC program and regulations stated in DHM 150-24. Certifies, develops, monitors and revises nutrition notes and care plans for individual clients who are at low risk and high-risk nutritional risk. Documents appropriately and accurately in the WIC Florida-Wise electronic medical record as directed by policy using SOAP note format for high-risk care plans. Works with all WIC clinic staff to develop a system to ensure that appropriate nutritional care and WIC services are provided to the clients. Ensures that proper client follow up is planned and completed per policy. Provides interactive low risk second contacts to clients using approved nutrition notebooks and documents the contact appropriately. Collects, records and assess anthropometric and hematological, dietary and medical data on women, infants and children. Certifies clients for participation in the WIC program in accordance with policies of the state WIC program and regulations as stated in the DHM 150-24 WIC Manual. Assigns and issues WIC food benefits, approves and issues WIC Nutritionals by direct distribution. Assigns Farmer’s Market Coupons to clients and documents in a daily log. Participates in and attends WIC outreach events and activities. Complies with regulations regarding warrants, vouchers and invoices under Section 215.422, Florida Statues, and Chapter 3A 24 of the Florida Administrative Code. Participates in and conducts quality assurance audits on nutrition care plans and administrative functions quarterly. Evaluates, develops and recommends nutrition education materials, including WIC bulletin boards and local developed nutrition notebooks. Participates in and attends WIC outreach events and activities. Provides services to clients in an efficient manner so that clinic flow is smooth and caseload is evenly distributed among nutrition staff. Attends and participates in staff meetings, trainings and other development opportunities. Provides breastfeeding promotion, support and counseling to prenatal and postpartum clients. Follows guidelines for issuing breast pumps to breastfeeding clients. Performs all other duties as assigned in support of the Agency’s mission and vision.
