This is work promoting, maintaining, and improving individual and/or community health by assisting individuals and communities to adopt healthy behaviors. Incumbents collect and analyze data to identify individual and/or community needs prior to planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs and/or services designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies and environments. Incumbents may also serve as a resource to assist individuals, other professionals, or the community. The Nutrition Educator position certifies individuals for participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC). He/she provides services in the WIC Program in accordance with the policies of the state WIC Program and regulations as stated in DHM 150-24. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Senior Public Health Nutritionist in the assigned area. A valid unrestricted Driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
