About The Position

Responsible for the receiving, storing, and rotating food and non-food inventory for the Nutrition Services Department per department protocols and guidelines during the entire shift including items up to 50 pounds. Follows regulatory guidelines for maintaining proper food temperatures to ensure food safety throughout the receiving and storage process.

Requirements

  • Current food handler's permit
  • Demonstrated ability to write accurately and legibly.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and apply procedures and instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to use a power pallet jack and all other material handling equipment.
  • Interact with co-workers requiring the employee to verbally communicate information, as well as understand spoken information.
  • Operate food service equipment or computer requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
  • See and read labels, monitors, and documents.
  • Carry, push/pull, and walk while transporting food, supplies, and service equipment.
  • Climb, squat, kneel, and lift (up to 50 pounds) to clean equipment and reach and retrieve food and supplies.
  • Remain standing & walking for the entirety of the 8 hour shift.
  • Tolerate extremes in temperature such as performing work at a grill or in a refrigerator.

  • One or more year of experience in warehouse environments & handling inventory up to 50 pounds (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Receiving and Storage Functions: Receives and verifies physical shipment with packing slips and purchase orders and notifies Culinary procurement of discrepancies.
  • Identifies damaged or missing items to expedite credits and refuses sub-standard products
  • Stocks materials in proper storage locations following FIFO and labels products according to department procedures.
  • Follows HACCP, local and state health department standards.
  • Processes outbound (shipping) supplies and equipment to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly storage and receiving area/dock.
  • Distribution Functions: Picks orders according to production needs, verifies unit of measurement, quality and correct product.
  • Ensures all delivery containers are labelled, dated and staged properly.
  • Problem solves picking issues by making adjustments and corrections to pick lists.
  • Performs data entry on materials that were disbursed and transferred.
  • Distributes food and non-food products to assigned locations, including satellite facilities.
  • Stores and uses cleaning chemicals properly according to Joint Commission and OSHA standards.
