JOB SUMMARY Performs essential duties associated with the nutritional care and food service to all patients. Duties may include pediatric formula preparation, food/snack preparation, transporting food carts, working with patients and/or caregivers to obtain menu selections, setup and service on the patient tray-line, as well as delivering items to and from clinical units and working the cash register in the main cafeteria. Other responsibilities include maintaining a clean and sanitary environment following all procedures for washing dishes, pots and pans. At HFSC, we are a family. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/Graduate Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.).
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand instructions to perform responsibilities independently.
  • Must have excellent attention to details and service knowledge.
  • Must have excellent communication and organization skills.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one-year experience in hospital food service preferred.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets and basic principles of nutrition preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve on the patient tray line and check trays for accuracy during meal service.
  • Prepare and deliver pediatric formula, labels oral nutrition supplements for patient delivery.
  • Prepare and label food items for snacks, desserts, and general meal service.
  • May obtain food choices for meal services from patients and/or family members and enter into menu computer system.
  • Deliver call backs to patients/units after mealtimes.
  • Remove trash and recycle and maintain general kitchen and work area cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Retrieve all equipment (including food carts), small wares and trays from assigned floors and brings it back to the dish room to be washed and sanitized correctly.
  • Strip and clean dishes from food carts.
  • Handle and store clean dishes and service ware appropriately.
  • Wash and sanitize pots, pans, and utensils according to established procedures.
  • Clean department equipment including food carts at the end of each meal service.
  • May work as cashier for employee cafeteria.
  • Stock clinical units with premade formulas, beverages, and snacks.
  • Assist in receiving deliveries and loading products in appropriate storage areas.
  • Follow regulatory guidelines for the safe handling of food, dishware and chemicals.
  • Perform various duties as assigned when required.
