As a Nutrition Assistant Lead at CHI St. Vincent, you will interact directly with patients and visitors, ensuring dining areas are sanitized, well-stocked, and food is prepared appropriately. The role emphasizes providing nutritious food that promotes health and healing, setting up patient trays according to menus and individual preferences, and collecting/cleaning dirty dishes. Success in this role requires enjoying helping others and thriving in a fast-paced, fun work environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Current (within the past 12 months) ServSafe® Allergen and Food Handler Certifications
  • If not currently certified, certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Directly interact with patients and visitors everyday
  • Ensure all dining areas are safely sanitized, well-stocked, and food is appropriately prepared
  • Serve the patients, families and staff nutritious food that promotes health and healing to the body
  • Set up trays for the hospital patients, following posted menus requests from the patient room service program while taking individual likes and dislikes into account
  • Collect dirty trays and dishes from the patient care areas
  • Clean dishes in an automatic dishwasher and return these dishes in the proper storage areas
  • Ensure all food handling areas are sanitized and disinfected for the safety of employees, patients, and guests
  • Exhibit high degree knowledge in food preparation and food production
  • Accurately portion meals and beverages including attention to detail concerning dietary restrictions
  • Support team members in all areas of food services including cashier, stocking, cleaning, tray service, dishwashing, food storage, etc
