Nursing Tutor - School of Nursing - UAA Learning Commons
About The Position
Do you enjoy helping other students learn concepts and succeed? The School of Nursing in collaboration with the Learning Commons is currently recruiting for student employees to tutor nursing students. Nursing tutors facilitate student learning and help nursing students better understand concepts or applications of nursing course content. Nursing tutors facilitate student learning and help students better understand concepts or applications of nursing course content. Nursing tutors will be paid as Grade 2 student employees ($15.26/hour) for up to 20 hours per week. Nursing tutors support students and assist them in gaining effective study skills and maximizing their potential for their academic success. Nursing tutors are needed in: Pharmacology, Microbiology, Anatomy & Physiology, Pathology, Med/Surgical (1st & 2nd level), Fundamentals of Nursing, Obstetrics and Pediatrics.
Requirements
- Effective communication skills.
- Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours in current semester in UA system.
- Ability to work at least 2 hours of scheduled tutoring weekly.
- Earned grade of B (3.0) or higher in the selected tutoring topic.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
- Capacity to work with students with diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to work the time promised.
- Applicants must be enrolled as UA students taking a minimum of 6 credits per semester with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or a newly enrolled student.
Nice To Haves
- Prior enrollment in the course(s) to be tutored highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Follow all procedures and policies set by the School of Nursing and the Learning Commons.
- Be familiar with campus academic resources available to students.
- Report immediately to the coordinator when critical issues arise.
- Submit attendance report bi-weekly to the Learning Commons Director.
- Submit web timesheets to the Learning Commons Director for approval as scheduled by the UAA Payroll Office.
