About The Position

The Nursing Supervisor of Alternatives oversees client care and the overall supervision of the medical department at Alternatives. The Nursing Supervisor will provide minor health care services to residents housed in the Passages Program and manage the facility’s medical program in compliance with policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and standards. At Alternatives, nursing is more than clinical care—it’s an opportunity to make a lasting impact. The Nursing Supervisor leads the medical team at Passages, overseeing the incredible medical department that supports residents on their path to stability, recovery, and successful reentry. This role reports to the Director of Passages, who has nearly 20 years of experience with the agency, and is part of a supportive leadership team committed to professionalism, compassion, and meaningful work every day. Requirements

  • Current Montana RN Licensure.
  • Nursing degree from an accredited nursing school.
  • At least 4 years of nursing experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass a drug test, including federally prohibited drugs.
  • Ability to pass background check and driving insurability.
  • Ability to relate to offenders; previous corrections experience is a plus.
  • Physical ability to handle demands of patient services.

Responsibilities

  • Immediate supervision of the Alternatives medical department team.
  • Obtaining, reviewing, and storing accurate medical files and records, including obtaining medical records from other institutions as needed.
  • Ensuring intake nursing assessments are completed within agency standards of seven days of arrival.
  • Oversight of monthly audit to ensure residents are taking medications as prescribed.
  • Follow-up with residents who suffer accidents, injuries, and ensure proper medical attention is received.
  • Receive approval from the Department of Corrections to pay for medical services as needed.
  • Develop health-related SOPs and update them annually.
  • Participate in rotating medical on call.
  • Attending meetings as required and needed.
  • This role requires great confidentiality, care, and coordination with other Agency departments.
