About The Position

The Rutgers School of Nursing invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership contributing to the advancement of patient care and nursing scholarship within the School of Nursing. This individual will become a valued faculty member of the Division of Nursing Science. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with scholarly achievements including funded research and publication record, as well as other relevant professional experience. The position will be based in either Newark or New Brunswick, NJ. Successful candidates will demonstrate the expertise and commitment to advance nursing science through research, teaching excellence, advisement and mentorship of PhD students, and potentially undergraduates and DNP students, as well. We are seeking visionary scientists who will make solid contributions to the academic life of the School. We offer highly competitive salaries and benefits; start-up packages are available. This candidate will work closely with Center for Health Equity and Systems Research (CHESR) https://nursing.rutgers.edu/research/center-for-health-equity-and-systems-research/. Established in 2023, the CHESR, at Rutgers School of Nursing provides a nexus for rigorous research that elucidates the harmful effects of systematic inequities on health outcomes and quantifies the impact of approaches designed to mitigate them.

Requirements

  • PhD - area of expertise or focus of program of research aligning with CHESR, that links to the overall Rutgers SON mission and vision
  • Eligibility for appointment at least at the rank of Assistant Professor tenure-track whose program of scholarship has had successful extramural support and is published in peer-reviewed, quality health-related journals.
  • Applicants should have a focused program of scholarship in an area complementary to nursing science
  • Skill at grant writing as evidence by securing extramural support for research
  • Expertise in teaching and mentorship of undergraduate and graduate students
  • Interest and demonstrated expertise in teaching identified courses that complement the programs of study at the School of Nursing
  • The School is particularly interested in areas of genomics, community-based participatory work, self and family illness management, HIV and infectious diseases, child health, and social determinants of health.
