About The Position

The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner supports change, learning, and professional competence among nursing and healthcare staff through the implementation of the NPD practice model. This role is responsible for orientation and onboarding, competency management, staff education, professional role development, collaborative partnerships, and promoting research, evidence-based practice (EBP), and quality improvement (QI) initiatives. The NPD Practitioner leverages specialized knowledge, skills, tools, and theories to enhance staff performance, improve patient care, and support organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Current RN License to practice nursing in Kentucky and Indiana.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field required
  • Minimum of four (4) years of clinical nursing experience required.
  • Current BLS certification from an accredited training provider
  • Nursing Professional Development (NPD) certification preferred or must be obtained within three years of hire.
  • Demonstrated intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite and EMR platforms
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and report data to support quality initiatives and professional development programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Works well within a team environment to support department and organizational objectives.
  • Strong customer service orientation and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize, coordinate, and manage multiple assignments simultaneously while maintaining high-quality outcomes.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Self-directed, takes initiative, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to travel within the organization’s service area, which may include nights and weekends as required for events or training sessions.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in nursing education, competency evaluation, or professional development preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of hospice or home health experience preferred.
