Benefits Eligible Full-Time Benefit Eligible Work Shift Day - 8 Hour or less Shift (United States of America) Department 8741 Nursing Professional Development The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Manager oversees nursing onboarding, clinical competency development, professional education, regulatory practice updates, and evidence-based practice initiatives and programs to achieve and sustain clinical excellence at Kaweah Health. Uses continuous improvement processes to advance the professional development of nursing staff, allied health staff, and clinical nurse educators ensuring alignment with organizational strategy, regulatory requirements, and Kaweah Health’s mission, vision, and values.

Requirements

  • Current CA RN license
  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a clinical educator, NPD practitioner, or NPD specialist.
  • Knowledge of Title 22, EMTALA, CMS, The Joint Commission standards, and working knowledge of the California Nurse Practice Act.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, curriculum design, and program evaluation.
  • Ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives related to clinical practice and professional development.
  • Strong people-management skills including coaching, performance evaluation, and employee engagement.
  • Strong financial, operational, and project management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • National certification in Nursing Professional Development or Nursing Leadership
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Education, Healthcare, or related discipline
  • Prior supervisory or management experience.
  • Experience overseeing onboarding, residency, or competency programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, on-boards, and develops NPD staff while fostering best practices in nursing practice, professional standards, and staff/patient education.
  • Oversees nursing and allied health onboarding, orientation, clinical competency development, education initiatives, and regulatory updates.
  • Oversees education and professional development programs to ensure consistency, quality, and regulatory compliance related to nursing education, competency, and professional development.
  • Collaborates with nursing and organizational leaders to identify gaps in clinical practice, skills, and critical thinking and implements education strategies to address identified needs.
  • Leads the implementation and evaluation of nursing residency and professional development programs, monitoring outcomes and return on investment.
  • Ensures dissemination and implementation of unit-based, service line, and organization-wide education initiatives.
  • Directly responsible for employee engagement and people-management processes, including hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, coaching, corrective action, and retention.
  • Supports data collection, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts related to education and clinical practice outcomes.
  • Assists Director in partnering with nursing leadership and Human Resources on professional growth and career development initiatives and maintaining relationships with academic partners and nursing affiliates.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.
  • Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs.
  • Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan of Provision of Care.
