About The Position

Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips is recognized as a "Best Regional Hospital" by U.S. News & World Report and one of the "Best Places to Work in Healthcare" by Modern Healthcare. It is an award-winning, full-service medical/surgical facility serving southwest Orange County and Orlando's tourist population since 1985, with a 285-bed capacity. The hospital provides expertise in diagnostic imaging, cardiovascular care, orthopedic care, surgical services, and emergency medicine. In 2025, an onsite Team Member Wellness Center opened, featuring a fitness facility, tranquility space, and wellness activities. The DPH Intermediate Critical Care / Multisystem PCU is a 33-bed unit adjacent to the ICU, functioning as a transitional care ICU step-down for patients no longer requiring intensive care but still needing close monitoring. This includes adult patients with potential life-threatening conditions, those recovering from post-cath procedures, and individuals needing advanced monitoring, specialized medication drips (like Nicardipine, Insulin, Nitroglycerin, Heparin), and/or ventilator support. The Nursing Operations Manager provides leadership and operational oversight for this 33-bed unit, accountable for achieving department and hospital goals in collaboration with other leadership. The role is supported by a Director of Nursing, Assistant Nurse Operations Manager, Department Secretary, and Clinical Assistant Nurse Managers.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • National leadership board certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) within 2 years of hire.
  • Two (2) years as a registered nurse in an acute care/hospital setting.
  • One (1) year leadership experience.

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with Graduate degree in Business or health-related field.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates the environment and makes recommendations to ensure delivery of quality service, optimal patient flow and comfort, safety, and compliance with various standards of care, regulatory/governing bodies (e.g., OSHA, JCAHO), infection control, and risk management.
  • Plans, leads, organizes, directs, & evaluates the delivery of patient care to achieve sustained outcomes.

  • Achieves financial and operational benchmarks by developing capital & operating budgets and monitoring all operational expenses.
  • Assures development, implementation, and evaluation of an evidence-based, quality clinical nursing practice consistent with nursing research, and organizational and national practice standards.
  • Demonstrates initiative and situational leadership skills.
  • Ensures the customer experience is exceptional.
  • Serves as a liaison between team members and nursing administration.
  • Demonstrates professional accountability by maintaining proficiency in assigned role and involvement in professional organizations.
  • Facilitates and supports team member involvement in professional and organizational activities.
