Nursing Intern - Intermediate PCU
About The Position
Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City is seeking a Nursing Intern for their Progressive Care Unit (PCU), specifically within the Medical Intermediate Unit. This facility is Magnet designated and a leader in Academic Medical Centers. The unit specializes in providing care to medical short stay high acuity patients in a fast-paced environment. As a nursing intern on this team, you will have the opportunity to care for a variety of conditions and treatments, including but not limited to, renal issues, confusion, non-surgical cases, heart failure, and observation patients. This is a year-round PRN (as needed) position.
Requirements
- Be enrolled in a formal nursing school
- Have a certified nursing assistant certificate
- Successfully completed SLHS NA internal training program
- Completed their fundamentals of care course in nursing school
- Less than 1 year Applicable Experience
- Basic Life Support - American Heart Association or Red Cross
- Nursing Student - Various
Responsibilities
- Performs clinical procedures and provides patient care for assigned patients under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse.
- Performs direct and indirect patient care activities.
- Provides support to other health care team members.
- May perform technical tasks per unit competency validation.
- Restricted from performing any licensed tasks.
