About The Position

The Nursing Lead will act as the lead for the quality assurance and compliance activities. This position is responsible for assisting the Nursing Manager with general oversite of all nursing staff and others as assigned. This position functions as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary health care team assuring that all nursing services are provided in a manner conducive to the individual’s scope of practice while assuring quality to those MHC serves. The Nursing Lead functions as an extension of the Nursing Manager, assuring clinical operation functions continue per agency protocol in the absence of the Nursing Manager.

  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance to HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to comply with all occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued under the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA).
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking and problem solving skills to address clinic’s needs.
  • Ability to interpret oral and written instructions and do appropriate follow-up.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Must have exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to constructively participate in quality improvement efforts.
  • Ability to actively participate in marketing and outreach activities when requested and emergency response events when required.
  • LPN and RN must have knowledge and ability to practice in accordance with the State of Nebraska’s Nurse Practice Act.
  • Must have knowledge of community health nursing principles and practices and clinic functions.
  • Must have knowledge of community health resources for alternate health services.
  • Ability to learn and navigate EHR, NESIIS, and communicable disease reporting systems.
  • Nursing degree from an accredited college/university required.
  • Must have a current, unrestricted professional nursing license in the State of Nebraska.
  • Must have current BLS certification.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to utilize own transportation for work purposes.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of nursing experience in a clinical setting preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) verbal and written skills highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors compliance in maintaining an efficient, safe, secure, orderly and aseptic clinical environment of care for patients and employees.
  • Ability and willingness to serve as nurse in charge in the absence of the Nursing Manager. This includes providing general supervision to nursing staff.
  • Assigned to manage selected clinic sites to address daily clinical, staffing and patient needs and act as nurse in charge.
  • Maintains clinical expertise and competencies to assist in patient care if needed and to assure the delivery of quality health care by being able to perform in all aspects of nursing care services for self and staff under the supervision of this position according to their scope of practice and competency expectations.
  • Assists with staff scheduling, adaptation of daily scheduling and assures nursing coverage for optimal clinic flow as assigned by the Nursing Manager.
  • Demonstrates detailed understanding of clinical policies, procedures, and standing orders and the ability to develop and assure continuity of implementation among all staff.
  • May participate in the review, development, training, and implementation of policies, procedures, protocols, and standing orders.
  • Works with Nursing Manager to assure adequate levels of medical supplies, this includes inventory control of medications, medical supplies, environment of care issues, and site supervision strategies.
  • Engages in healthy conflict resolution strategies to address conflicts between patients and staff, with the best interest of MHC and its long-term success as the primary purpose.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
