The Nursing Assistant provides a range of patient care including: ambulation, transfers, administers hot and cold therapy, administers meals, snacks, and fluids, cleans equipment, collects and bags soiled linens, monitors and records patient intake and output, answers call lights, assists in preparing and transporting surgery patients, collects stool and urine specimens, assists patients with toilet needs, monitors and records temperature, pulse, and respirations when requested, assists with post-mortem care, administers genital care and enemas when needed; assists with catheter care. Provides or assists with basic patient care: comb, shampoo hair, shave, oral hygiene, baths, back rubs, and simple skin care. Notifies supervisor or RN of change in patient condition. Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week. Every 2nd or 3rd weekend. Rotating holidays. Occasional on-call.
