About The Position

This position is responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving their needs in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort. This is done under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director, potentially with guidance from an LPN, to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. Duties, which vary by patient care unit/department, include providing personal hygiene care, assisting with nutritional needs, offering comfort care and other assistance, safely transferring patients, taking vital signs, completing recordkeeping, recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN, and maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process. The Nursing Assistant (CNA) will specifically care for Critical and Intermediate Care specialties such as Neurotrauma, Acute Stroke, and Burn patients. The role requires working within job scope to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state, and local regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Requirements

  • BLS certified or ability to become certified within 1 month from hire date.
  • If qualified through the Essentia Health Foundation Course East Market: Completion of Essentia Health Nursing Assistant Foundation course within 90 days of hire.
  • Must Meet One of the Following Qualifications: 6 months of nursing assistant experience.
  • Must Meet One of the Following Qualifications: Completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program.
  • Must Meet One of the Following Qualifications: Enrollment into the Essentia Health Nursing Assistant Foundation Course within 30 days of hire.
  • Must Meet One of the Following Qualifications: Verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program.
  • Must Meet One of the Following Qualifications: Current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry.

Responsibilities
