Requirements

• Enrolled in an accredited registered nursing program with completion of nursing fundamentals course
• Current BLS (AHA) required
• Certified Nursing Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician preferred
• Basic computer skills
• Upon hire and at the beginning of each new semester it is the responsibility of the Student Nurse Apprentice to provide verification of enrollment as well as a current clinical skills checklist

Responsibilities

• The Nurse Apprentice is an adjunct to the patient care team.
• The Nurse Apprentice provides direct patient care by following a skills list approved by the Nevada State Board of Nursing under direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• As the Nurse Apprentice progresses through a nursing program, their ability to perform clinical skills will increase.
• This position will allow nursing students the opportunity to practice clinical skills and to acclimate to the role of the licensed registered nurse.
• All participants in the Nurse Apprentice Program (SNAP) will transition through units within the hospital.
• Participation in the SNAP does not guarantee a position as a Registered Nurse upon completion of their nursing program.
