About The Position

This position requires the following knowledge and abilities: Deliver nursing theory, lab, simulation, and clinical instruction. Develop and implement curriculum within a team-teaching model of instruction for a joint associate degree/baccalaureate degree nursing curriculum with emphasis on quality, safety, health, healing, and holistic nursing. Mentor and advise students. Participate in program/department accreditation and program review. Attend department and college meetings. Teach courses at a variety of times and/or delivery models such as days, evenings, face-to-face in the classroom, in hybrid formats, and online (synchronous and asynchronous). Design and teach courses in the approved curriculum using teaching methods that support the success of diverse students. Assess student learning and academic achievement at classroom, department/program, and college levels. Participate regularly in department meetings and in department responsibilities such as budgets, schedules, articulation agreements, program reviews, program assessment, curricula development, external partnerships, and staffing. Available and willing to be actively engaged in college community and activities around student success, such as student activities, clubs, and advising. Participate in service to the college and the greater community, such as college-wide committees and external partnerships. Participate in achieving annual college, division, and departmental priorities. Continually develop expertise in the field and in teaching (i.e., professional development).

Requirements

  • Graduate degree with a major in nursing, or Bachelor's degree in nursing and a graduate degree in support of the field of nursing and/or education.
  • Two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a registered nurse at the professional level.
  • As a registered nurse at the professional level, experientially qualified to accomplish the mission, goals, and expected student and faculty outcomes; including experiential preparation in the areas the faculty will teach.
  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
  • Current unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse (RN) with current registration in Minnesota.
  • Compliance with clinical affiliate policies for attending on-site clinical teaching assignments.

Nice To Haves

  • Recent clinical practice in long term care, transitional care, and/or medical and surgical nursing.
  • Understanding of holistic health and healing principles.
  • Experience incorporating technology into course delivery, including experience or willingness to teach online courses and electronic health record utilization.
  • Experience in or demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse and equity-focused working and learning environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, teach, and serve in an institution with a wide variety of backgrounds in workforce and student population.
  • Teaching experience at the community/technical college level or demonstrated commitment to the mission, vision, and values of community and technical colleges.
  • Expertise and experience in multiple modalities, including course design and teaching face-to-face in the classroom, hybrid, and online (synchronous and asynchronous) classes.
  • Evidence of active and experiential learning strategies.
  • Experience in assessment of student learning that includes a variety of summative and formative strategies.
