About The Position

At Garden View Nursery our sales associates play a key role assisting customers with plant selections and care, managing inventory, and ensuring the overall appearance and functionality of the nursery.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills; listening, oral and written.
  • Reflect Garden View’s core values of teamwork, positive attitude, responsibility, integrity, constant improvement, dedication and efficiency
  • A strong desire to learn and an interest in ornamental horticulture
  • Strong organizational skills and a self-starter
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., and carry 15-20 lbs repeatedly
  • Enjoys working outside
  • Must be willing to work weekends & some holidays

Nice To Haves

  • HIGHLY PREFERRED: Bilingual in Mandarin, Cantonese or Spanish and English
  • Previous sales experience
  • Previous experience with plants
  • Knowledge of plant names, growth habits, and plant maintenance
  • Interest in soil/ organic gardening practices
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and other web-based programs
  • Ability to multi task in a fast-paced environment
  • Always keeping safety in mind
  • Understanding of different plant species, their needs, and how to care for them.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize excellent communication skills to assist with Retail and Wholesale customers
  • Greet and assist customers with plant selection based on their needs and preferences.
  • Ringing up orders, scheduling deliveries and installations, providing plant suggestions, quotes and estimates
  • Plant placement and plant care to customers
  • Restock plants/material
  • pulling/loading plants/material for customers
  • organizing and cleaning of retail space
  • labeling, maintaining plant signs, and other operational and sales tasks
  • Monitor for pests and diseases and take appropriate action to treat affected plants.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the nursery, including sweeping, cleaning, and organizing displays.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed to prevent accidents or injuries.
  • Set up and dismantle seasonal displays and promotional areas.
