About The Position
About the Opportunity The Nursery is a critical component of the Driscoll’s business model, enabling berry production and revenue growth through the propagation of plants for our growers. The Nursery motto is to deliver plants In-Volume, On-Time, On-Grade and Within Cost. The Nursery Planning & Strategy Intern supports planning, reporting, and analytical activities across Driscoll’s North America Nursery operations (U.S., Canada, and Central Mexico). This role assists the Nursery Planning and Strategy teams in consolidating planning data, preparing reports, and supporting initiatives that enable data-driven decision-making for nursery production and long-term planning. Reporting to the Nursery Strategy & Reporting Manager, with a dotted line to the Nursery Planning Sr. Manager, this role works closely with Nursery planners, operations teams, and cross-functional partners. The internship provides hands-on exposure to production planning, operational reporting, and strategic analysis within a global fresh produce organization. This role offers an opportunity to gain insight into how large-scale agricultural operations plan production, manage supply, and make strategic investment decisions.
Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, operations, supply chain, finance, engineering, agriculture, or a related field
- Academic exposure to business analytics, operations planning, supply chain management, agricultural systems, or production planning
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Interest in business operations, planning, or strategy
- Ability to analyze data and synthesize information into clear insights
- Experience working with data sets, reports, or analytical projects in an academic or internship setting
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities
- Microsoft Excel (data analysis, tables, formulas) – Intermediate
- Microsoft PowerPoint (reporting and presentations) – Advanced
- Data visualization or analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) – Basic
- Business reporting, dashboards, and performance tracking – Intermediate
- Exposure to planning, ERP, or analytics systems – Basic
- English: Fluent
Nice To Haves
- Previous internship, academic project, or research experience in data analysis, business planning, operations, or strategy preferred but not required
- Spanish: Bilingual helpful but not required
Responsibilities
- Assist Nursery Planners in consolidating and validating plant order data, planning assumptions, and production schedules.
- Support tracking of plant orders, change requests, and production progress across Nursery sites.
- Maintain and update planning tools, order tracking systems, and planning documentation to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
- Assist in preparing monthly Nursery KPI reports and other operational reporting for planning and leadership teams.
- Support the preparation of dashboards, reports, and presentations used for operational reviews and leadership updates.
- Help document and maintain Nursery planning procedures and SOPs to support consistent planning processes.
- Assist with planning analysis related to production capacity, demand changes, and scenario modeling.
- Support strategic initiatives such as risk assessments, long-range planning activities, and investment analysis.
- Represent Driscoll’s in a professional, ethical, and business-appropriate manner in all interactions.
- Travel domestically up to 10% as required.
