About The Position

The UN Clinics operate, regarding technical matters only, under the general supervision of the UN Medical Director and with the UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in regard to all administrative matters. The UN Clinic Nurse performs the functions under the immediate supervision of the UN Medical Physician with regards to technical matters only and the overall supervision of the UNDP Deputy Resident Representative for all administrative matters. The technical supervision of the physician and the medical personnel in the field as well as the technical performance evaluation will be executed by the UN Medical Director or his nominee. In order to ensure that UNDP should facilitate external access to its Performance Development and Management system to MSD. Quality nursing services that contribute to the good physical and mental health of staff are provided. The key results have an impact on the efficiency of the clinic. Accurate analysis and presentation of information from thoroughly researched, and fully documented work strengthens the capacity of the UN Clinic at the duty station and facilitates subsequent action by the supervisor. The incumbent’s own initiative is decisive in the results of work and timely finalization

Requirements

  • Registered Professional Nurse and/or first-level Bachelor's degree from an accredited Nursing Program (University) or equivalent, such as an accredited Diploma/SRN Program (3 years) is required.
  • Minimum 6 years (Accredited Diploma) or 3 years (Bachelor’s degree) of continuous clinical experience in nursing, preferably in a multicultural environment, is required.
  • National registration and license are a requirement

Nice To Haves

  • Certificates in ECG, CPR or Basic Life Support and ACLS or equivalent emergency medical care is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to emergency calls and assist UN Health Manager.
  • Ensures effective liaison between patient and private doctor, paramedics, family members, and colleagues as appropriate, documents case findings.
  • Assist the UN Health Manager with the management, organization, and coordination of fever, Covid-19 symptoms, or any outbreak in an isolation room at the duty station.
  • Support the UN Health Manager in the management of the isolation room for medium and in severe cases prepare the patient to transfer to an outbreak facility.
  • Performs point-of-care screening tests and alerts UN Health Manager to activate the response team for sample collection.
  • Performs clinical assessment of patients at the duty station; provides care/advice accordingly or facilitates referral to the UN Clinic or to an outside physician, as indicated.
  • Ensures preparedness of staff at the duty station, instructing on Covid-19 or epidemic mitigation measures and other ailments.
  • Assists in providing health education and health promotion programs; participates in work environment assessment with special emphasis on the preventative measures of Covid-19 or any outbreak.
  • Assists UN Health Officer in all her/his activities as required.
  • Ensures that medical instruments are properly sterilized.
  • Ensures proper filing of medical and other records, must ensure use of the electronic filing system namely Earthmed
  • Evaluates, orders, and maintains an efficient inventory and stock control
  • Provide good client orientation to all UN staff across the organization, partner agencies etc
