Nurse Technician Position Summary Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), performs basic patient care activities and unit support tasks to promote safe, efficient care and patient throughput. Assists with activities of daily living, routine monitoring, and maintaining a clean, well-stocked environment; supports nursing/physician staff and tech desk operations. Reports to the Director or Manager of the Department.

Requirements

  • High School diploma preferred.
  • SRNA or EMT preferred.
  • BCLS required; Handle with Care preferred.
  • Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment
  • Rapid learning and navigation of multiple software systems
  • Effective English communication (read/write/speak)
  • Ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic patient care as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation).
  • Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
  • Keeps patient rooms and common areas clean, safe, and appropriately stocked.
  • Manages the tech desk; supports nursing/physician staff and department throughput.
  • Documents care and activities per unit standards.
  • Participates in performance improvement and required education; performs other duties as assigned.
