About The Position

The Nurse Tech acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Provider or Registered Nurse (RN) in the examination and treatment of patients. The primary goal is to facilitate clinic flow and provide excellent patient care. This role involves performing basic skills according to department guidelines and policies, and communicating observations to members of the health care team. The Nurse Tech provides support to ensure safe, quality patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider, adhering to clinical policies, procedures, and department standard work. Responsibilities include potentially serving as a chaperone during sensitive examinations, providing input for individualized patient care plans, and identifying and notifying patients of health maintenance gaps. Accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record is essential. The role actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures, such as using assistive devices for patient mobilization and transfers, practicing hand hygiene, and confirming patient identity using two identifiers. The Nurse Tech collects patient-reported medication history, allergies, risk screenings, and medical history, reporting this information to the RN or Provider. They also collect and report vital signs, collect samples (e.g., urine, stool), and perform minor tests like Point of Care tests and Electrocardiograms for provider interpretation. Additional duties include assisting with stocking supplies, cleaning the patient's environment/work area/equipment, and reporting equipment malfunctions. The Nurse Tech performs and documents results of required clinical logs and CLIA waived laboratory tests, including routine quality control procedures and maintaining temperature logs and eyewash stations. The individual is expected to demonstrate high moral and ethical behavior, commit to continuous improvement of the patient experience (including safety, quality, and service), advocate for patient, staff, and organization data privacy and security, and adhere to the organization’s values, standards, and policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Provider or Registered Nurse (RN) in the examination and treatment of patients to facilitate clinic flow and provide excellent patient care.
  • Performs basic skills per department guidelines and policies; communicates observations to members of the health care team.
  • Provides support to facilitate safe, quality patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider, consistent with clinical policies, procedures and department standard work.
  • May serve as a chaperone, an impartial observer during a sensitive examination or procedure.
  • Provides input in the development of an individualized plan of care.
  • Identifies health maintenance gaps for patients; notifies patients of existing health maintenance gaps.
  • Documents in the electronic health record; documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate, including, but not limited to: use of assistive devices for patient mobilization and transfers, hand hygiene, and confirmation of patient using at least two patient identifiers.
  • Collects patient reported medication history, allergies, risk screenings along with medical history; reports information to Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.
  • Collects and reports vital signs as delineated by a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.
  • Collects samples, including, but not limited to: urine and stool.
  • Performs minor testing for provider interpretation, including, but not limited to: Point of care tests, Electrocardiogram, etc
  • Assists with stocking of supplies and cleans patient’s environment/work area/equipment; communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department/unit personnel.
  • Performs and documents the results of required clinical logs and CLIA waived laboratory tests; including but not limited to: performing routine quality control procedures, maintaining temperature logs and eyewash stations, etc.
