About the Unit Reed City Emergency Department is a community-based hospital that is part of the Corewell Healthcare System. There are 20 places to treat patients with minor to major medical and traumatic emergencies. Interdisciplinary team members collaborate closely to provide relationship-based care for our patients and their loved ones. Scope of work The Nursing Technician role is a fast-paced role requiring strong communication and teamwork skills, regardless of the department you are working in. This is a direct patient care role, and duties will include Taking Vitals, Checking Blood Sugar, Wound Care, Bed bathing, Toileting, Ambulating, Catheterization, and acting as safety attendant for patients as needed.  Additionally, you could be involved in Postmortem care. In our Emergency Departments, you will be doing EKGs, Changing over rooms/Cleaning, etc. You may also be floated to Big Rapids Hospital nearby for a shift if there is a need. Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.  Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.  Ensures that required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through AHA or ARC is required within 90 days
