About The Position

Join #TeamWake as a Nurse Supervisor! This position ensures the provision of high quality patient care in the Wake County Tuberculosis and Refugee Health Clinic. The Tuberculosis and Refugee Health Clinic provides treatment for latent TB infection and TB disease, as well as TB evaluations and patient education. The clinic completes health screenings, medical examination reports, and immunizations for refugee clients. The Nurse Supervisor requires competent clinical knowledge and uses independent nursing judgment for client care provided by themselves and the nursing staff, ensuring the quality and safety of nursing services in the TB and Refugee Health Clinic. The Nurse Supervisor is a highly collaborative position, working closely with Infectious Disease Physicians, the Communicable Disease Manager, the Medical Director, the Nursing Director, other Wake County Public Health clinics, and local health care providers. This position also collaborates with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and community organizations, such as refugee resettlement agencies. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Two years of experience as a nurse
  • North Carolina Board of Nursing Licensed Registered Nurse
  • CPR
  • AED
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience as a nurse supervisor
  • Two years of infectious disease nursing experience
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate expectations, to lead by actions as well as words, to build consensus and to build high functioning team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply the principles, methods, and procedures of the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high quality care for infectious disease patients
  • Knowledge of the scope of a registered nurse and all unlicensed assistive personnel
  • Ability to plan and organize workload and multiple priorities daily; managing one's own time and the time of others
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Guidance, work assignment, and supervision of a team of public health nurses and paraprofessionals in the the TB and Refugee Health Clinic
  • Participating in program planning and operational functions
  • Providing direct nursing care to clinic patients
