The Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) ensures the delivery of safe, quality nursing care on the Independent Transition Unit (ITU). As an essential member of a multidisciplinary care team, the CNM uses and role models the nursing process to plan, implement, and evaluate the highest standard of care and provides education to teammates, patients, and families. A typical day on the ITU consists of interacting with teammates and patients. Patients begin their day being encouraged and mentored by teammates. Teammates provide structured skill building activities and interaction in varies settings throughout the day. Patients attend off-unit programming at the Hope and Wellness Center. Patients have scheduled access to time in the courtyard with various activities, gymnasium with basketball court, library, and various other off-unit activities. The CNM is responsible for the implementation of policy, scheduling, and daily operations of the unit, and has 24-hour accountability.
