About The Position

The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily delivery of patient care, as well as the quality of nursing practice and the standards of care in the Main Operating Room. This role ensures continuity and congruity of services through coordination of the overall surgery schedule, supervision and direction of staff, facilitation of responses to physician orders and the acquisition of equipment & services. The incumbent serves as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, and patients. Additionally, the supervisor reviews data and devises effective control mechanisms to ensure the environment fosters safe patient care.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and follow through with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by influence as well as authority, manage conflict and negotiate successfully.
  • Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to problem solve, think critically and creatively.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize daily responsibilities.
  • Ability to manage staff and resources consistent with goals and in keeping within the organizational vision and values.
  • Ability to delegate and empower staff and build strong employee morale.
  • 5 years Operating Room experience or 2 years Operating Room experience with additional experience as a service coordinator, charge nurse or other supervisory experience.
  • Registered Nurse license.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room certification.
  • Bachelor of Science, Nursing.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience working in an acute care setting.
  • ANCC recognized RN certification uniquely applicable to this specific unit (general certifications, such as WCC, will not be acceptable for meeting this requirement).
