About The Position

The Operating Room Nurse utilizes the nursing process to design, coordinate, and deliver patient care tailored to the specific needs of patients undergoing operative procedures. This role may involve functioning as either a scrub nurse or a circulating nurse across various surgical procedures. The Clinical Nurse II is also expected to serve as a role model and mentor for nursing students and new nurses joining the unit. Additionally, the position may require acting as a Patient Care Coordinator when requested. The listed functions are not exhaustive and do not restrict other duties that may be assigned if they are reasonably related to the position.

Requirements

Minimum of six months recent nursing experience working in an acute-care perioperative environment
If applicable, internal UCI candidate with 2+ years of UC service and possession of ADN with current enrollment in an accredited BSN program, with anticipated completion within 2 years
Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation and equipment, and practice of infection control techniques, body mechanics and age related acuity levels
All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
Ability to scrub and circulate in most surgical specialties
Registered Nurse
Basic Life Support

Demonstrated experience working in a Level I Trauma Center
Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
BSN and CNOR

Responsibilities
