About The Position

At Saint Mary’s Hospital, the Nurse Senior – Educator will advance nursing excellence through evidence‑based education and professional development with a primary focus on our Level II Emergency Department. This role empowers emergency nurses to deliver high‑quality, patient-centered acute care by strengthening clinical readiness, trauma response competency, and regulatory compliance across all phases of emergency care. The ideal candidate brings strong Emergency Department experience, trauma program familiarity, and the ability to design and deliver high‑impact training to support nurses in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment.

Requirements

  • Current and valid Connecticut RN license.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) strongly preferred; BSN candidates will be considered if actively pursuing an MSN or higher degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in Emergency Room nursing, Level I or Level II Trauma experience is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in emergency nursing education, onboarding, skills validation, or professional development initiatives.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS certification; instructorship strongly preferred.
  • Certification support will be offered post-hire TNCC certification (highly preferred).
  • Certification support will be offered post-hire Leadership experience in trauma program coordination, trauma program management, or ED clinical leadership.
  • Familiarity with current trends and best practices across the trauma care continuum, including pre-hospital, ED, stabilization, and interfacility transfer pathways.
  • Experience designing and facilitating simulation‑based training for emergency or trauma scenarios.
  • Certification support will be offered post‑hire where applicable.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver educational programs for nursing staff.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate education programs that support clinical competency in emergency nursing, including triage decision‑making, trauma protocols, and ED-specific best practice.
  • Lead and coordinate simulation‑based training, including resuscitation, high-risk ED scenarios, and trauma team response to ensure clinical preparedness.
  • Support and strengthen trauma care initiatives, collaborating with leadership on performance improvement, trauma coordination activities, and alignment with national trauma standards.
  • Serve as a mentor and clinical resource for emergency nurses, promoting evidence‑based practice, continuous learning, and a culture of safety in the ED environment.
