About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for independent evaluation of Harris House patients assigned to his/her care; formulation of plan of medication management of these patients under guidance of the medical director and according to Harris House’s policies, procedures, and protocols; entering orders in the patient’s charts and conveying these orders to the nursing staff. This individual will also be responsible for the completeness of all aspects of the medical records – including any paper documentation and all entries into the electronic health record system.  This a FT position, Wednesday - Sunday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Completion of Nurse Practitioner program specific to psychiatry/mental health.
  • 1 year as Nurse Practitioner treating substance use disorders.
  • Current and unrestricted MO RN and APRN licenses
  • Current MO DEA license
  • Make sound judgment based on assessment and data available and act accordingly.
  • Flexible, innovative, and work independently.
  • Possess skills for computer usage and written and oral communication.
  • Possess good interpersonal skills and ability to prioritize multiple functions or tasks
  • Tolerance for unpredictable circumstances and usual stress of coping with the human nature of staff and patients.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that a medical evaluation, including a medical history and physical examination, has been performed at every patient’s admission.
  • Ensure that appropriate laboratory studies have been ordered and performed, and results are reviewed and documented.
  • Ensure that evidence of current physiological dependence, length of history addiction, or exceptions to criteria for admission are documented in the client’s record before they receive the initial medication.
  • Collaborates with Medical Director, clinical and social service teams, and other medical providers.
  • Presents medical forms to the Medical Director for their signature.
  • Initiates referral for patients who have any medical needs.
  • Participates in quality improvement and treatment team meetings.
  • With compliance with the medical team, help administer annual CPR and TB requirements.
  • Ensures compliance with State Regulations, CARF and HIPAA Standards.
