About The Position

At Barnes-Jewish Hospital, our Women & Infants Nurse Practitioners deliver expert, compassionate care to high-risk obstetric patients in a collaborative, cutting-edge academic environment! The Women & Infants Center is housed in two new adjoining towers at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital. A walkway joins the two buildings, located on the Washington University Medical Campus. This walkway connects labor and delivery with the NICU, allowing mothers immediate access to their newborns who need intensive care. Position Details: Schedule: Mon-Fri rotating days of the week, rotating day/nights every 6 weeks (8am-8pm, 8pm-8am) Weekend and holiday rotation Preferred: Women's health NP or FNP with women's health experience Service Line: Women's Assessment Center, Postpartum Unit, & Antepartum Unit Overview Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Through our partnership and combined expertise, we can provide the most innovative and advanced care, improving the health of women and infants throughout the region. Role Purpose This role works collaboratively in a multidisciplinary health team to provide comprehensive care to patients and families in an emergent or acute care setting. They demonstrate a high degree of clinical expertise for patients with acute or urgent illnesses commonly encountered within the emergency department or the BJH specialty urgent care setting. The role demonstrates an advanced level of clinical knowledge, interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, and 0systems-based practice. They work with nurses, physicians, med/surg trainees, and staff to assure safe, effective, quality patient care. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with patients, families, physicians, medical/surgical trainees, and other health professionals.
  • Demonstrates the highest level of accountability for professional practice by participating in professional development, quality initiative/performance activities, and implementing standards of care within area of specialization.
  • Provides patient and family-centered, compassionate, appropriate, and effective care for managing and treating emergent or urgent health care encounters.
  • Responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion, and care coordination for patients and families with acute, emergent, or urgent specialty health needs.
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
