About The Position

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards VA Finger Lakes Healthcare System is recruiting for a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP). The Nurse Practitioner is expected to provide a full range of sex-specific services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. The WHNP will provide advanced clinical practice, consultation, and management. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide Comprehensive Women's Health and Primary Care for female Veterans of all ages. Comprehensive Primary Care for Women Veterans includes gender-specific primary care screening for breast and cervical cancer and referral of abnormal findings to specialty services for appropriate follow-up, and basic contraceptive care; sexually transmitted infection (STI) treatment; management of menopause-related concerns; initial evaluation and treatment of conditions such as pelvic and abdominal pain, abnormal vaginal bleeding, vaginal infection, urinary incontinence, breast masses, mastitis, etc. Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on Women's Health and sex-related care to include but not limited to health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice. Develops and implements an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management. Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with Women's Health Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) and other interdisciplinary team members. Orders and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies. Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services. Provides education to patients and their families. Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
