About The Position

This health care professional is a physician assistant (PA) or nurse practitioner (NP) on the neurosurgery team of the Spine and Neuro department at Huntsville Hospital whose primary function is the co-management of patients (i.e., their diagnosis and treatment) under the supervision of the neurosurgical physicians within the recognized standards of practice in the clinic.

Requirements

• Completion of Nurse Practitioner Masters of Science in Nursing or current Physician Assistant license
• Successful completion of a National Certification Exam for NP or current registration through the Alabama board of Medical Examiners for PA
• Approval of the Huntsville Hospital Credentialing Board
• BLS within orientation period
• Minimum one (1) year of work experience as a licensed NP/PA preferred
• Must have proven ability to work in a team environment
• Must be able to interact with patients and their families in a manner that instills confidence and facilitates communication
• Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment

Nice To Haves

• Inpatient, acute care neurosurgical or surgical experience preferred
