About The Position

Christie Clinic's department of Interventional Pain Management is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant at the University clinic in Champaign from Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, with no night or weekend requirements. Duties include providing diagnostic, therapeutic and preventative medicine under the supervision of the physician. Working with both Neurosurgeons and Interventionalists. Job Qualifications and Expectations

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Successful completion of a post basic advanced practice formal education program
  • Successful completion of all other requirements to practice as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant
  • Successful completion of the Physician Assistants exam provided by the National Commission on the certification of Physician Assistants (PA)
  • Evidence of annual completion of health related courses and/or seminars with a certificate or CEU’s
  • Current Illinois state Advanced Practice Nurse Certified Nurse Practitioner license (NP)
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant (PA)
  • Current Illinois Advanced Practice Nurse Controlled Substance license
  • CPR Certification

Responsibilities

  • Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients.
  • Review patient records.
  • Interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.
  • Perform a complete and/or focused physical exam and record findings.
  • Establish presumptive diagnosis if needed.
  • Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
  • Synthesize data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
  • Administer injections, immunizations and/or oral medications, as needed.
  • Prepare written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances.
  • Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention.
  • Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Instruct patient and family regarding medication and treatment instructions.
  • Provide patient education.
  • Assist physicians by recording patient progress notes, issuing diagnostic orders and transcribing orders.
  • Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation.
  • Perform independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
  • Communicate effectively with providers and staff.
  • Provide monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
  • Perform related work as required.
