The General Surgery and Surgical subspecialty Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) or Physician Assistant utilizes a patient-centered coordinated care model, demonstrating competencies in leadership, direct clinical practice, consultation/collaboration, coaching/guiding, research, and ethical decision-making. The APN works collaboratively with the practice/hospital team to assess, plan, and implement care for individuals with health and safety needs. The General surgery and surgical subspecialty Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant manages the overnight inpatient and operative needs of surgical patients in conjunction with, and under the supervision of an attending physician . The NP is responsible for the assessment and management of various patient populations which includes the overall management of the orthopedic surgical patient, ordering and interpretation of diagnostic testing, development of appropriate plans of care, therapeutic interventions. They maintain a collaborative work environment that is safe, just, and founded on principles of high reliability and quality outcomes for patients and colleagues. The NP will perform duties in accordance with state and federal regulations as well as network policies, NP scope of practice guidelines, approved clinical privileges and the JFKUMC NP policy. The Nurse Practitioner reports to the department clinical lead and Director of Advanced Practice Providers, Full time includes weekends and holidays on a rotational basis. Minimum of 2 years experience in the Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant role preferred Minimum of 5 years RN/Specialty experience. RNFA certification.
