Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program required.
  • Masters of Science in Nursing from an accredited program required.
  • One to three (1-3) years of experience directly related to position and responsibilities preferred.
  • Must have a current, valid Registered Nurse license/Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Wyoming and must be in good standing with the Wyoming State Board of Nursing.
  • Must have Board certification from ANCC or ACNP
  • Must have a current, valid Wyoming Controlled Substance Registration and must be in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must have a current, valid DEA Registration, and must be in good standing with the DEA.
  • Must have current, valid Basic Life Support (BLS), or obtain within 60 days of hire and must maintain credential throughout employment with IMH.
  • Annual completion of yearly required CEUs.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including but not limited to: a friendly personality, tact, patience, empathy and a helpful, professional attitude both in person and on the telephone.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff, managers and the general public verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate effective listening skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills and ability to establish priorities effectively.
  • Possess exceptional problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively without immediate supervision.
  • Ability to learn new computer software programs.
  • Ability to recognize and protect confidential information.
  • Demonstrate ethical and legal accountability for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of all aspects of care for patients within scope of practice.
  • Provides education to patients according to their needs.
  • Coordinates healthcare team and delegates appropriate tasks to ancillary personnel.
  • Writes prescriptions for medication, blood products based upon laboratory results, routine diagnostic and follow up studies, therapeutic measures, and post discharge care in accordance with written practice protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.
