The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will be working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team within the UT Southwestern division at Children’s Health in Dallas/Plano to provide comprehensive care within our accredited adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) program and participate in care of congenital adult heart patients through the cardiothoracic surgical program. Role responsibilities include management of pre/post-operative cardiothoracic patients (congenital adult), in addition to working with young adults with CHD, aiding in meeting their medical, educational, and psychosocial needs with the goal of preparation for an eventual uninterrupted transition to an adult congenital heart disease program. The APP will also work with the ACHD consult team to provide consults to medical and surgical ACHD patients in the inpatient setting. This position will demonstrate a high degree of critical thinking and clinical expertise in working with adult congenital heart patients in the outpatient setting. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, consultation, and health promotion and care coordination for patients and families, with close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. OR · National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and certified licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board ( PA-C) upon hire. AND · Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support ( ACLS ), Basic Life Support ( BLS ), Pediatric Advanced Life Support ( PALS ) certified by the American Heart Association or Red Cross based on the UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers upon hire.
