About The Position

The Surgical Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner is a skilled member of the allied health care team who is qualified both academically and clinically to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients under the supervision of a licensed physician. The Surgical Physician Assistant works within a cooperative unit, utilizing team effort with health care providers, co-workers, and the public to provide positive patient interaction. Ability to learn and perform procedures independently.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Nursing or Graduate of a nationally accredited Physician Assistant Program.
• Certification from the National Commission on Certifications of Physician Assistants.
• Nurse Practitioner Certification awarded by a national certifying body.
• Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber Certification awarded by the State of Wisconsin.
• Must be eligible to obtain or already hold a current State of Wisconsin Physician Assistant licensure or Nurse Practitioner Licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
• Additional department-specific certifications, licenses, or memberships may be required (varies by department/location).
• Affiliated staff privileges at associated hospital may be required (varies by department/location).
• Employee may not at any time have been or be excluded from participation in any federally funded program, including Medicare and Medicaid. This is a condition of employment.
• Employee must immediately notify his/her manager or the Health System’s Compliance Officer if he/she is threatened with exclusion or becomes excluded from any federally funded program.

Nice To Haves

• One year in specialty.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
