The Radiation Oncology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will work closely with consultant MDs, residents, APPs, and nurses to provide oncologic care to patients in Radiation Oncology. The Radiation Oncology APP will have an opportunity for both collaborative and independent practice. Roles include comprehensive assessment and diagnosis, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, comprehensive patient education, and psychosocial support of the patient and family experiencing cancer. APPs in Radiation Oncology can grow professionally through quality improvement projects, research, committee work, precepting students, and teaching in the Mayo Clinic Health Sciences radiation therapy program. There are numerous educational opportunities within the department, including opportunity to apply for a Career Development award which provides limited tenure protected time for completion of scholarly work. Radiation Oncology APPs receive 0.1 FTE to complete non-visit care/administrative work.

Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current MN RN and APRN license and certification as an FNP, ANP, or ACNP.
  • Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the MN State Board of Medical Practice.
  • BLS required.
  • Must be eligible for DEA registration.
  • Applicants should have a very strong interest in oncology.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are required and must have demonstrated skill in working collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team.

  • New graduate candidates: Please submit 3 letters of reference from preceptors or faculty that can attest to your clinical abilities.
