About The Position

The Gastroenterology (GI) Department is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant/Associate to join their busy, growing community practice. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will have both clinic and inpatient duties. The APP will work collaboratively with all GI physicians and work independently to provide for the patient’s needs. This position requires direct patient care and telemedicine. Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Obtain GI specific histories and physicals. Order, interpret, diagnose, and communicate diagnostic results to patients and care team members. Devise and implement care plans. Facilitate and deliver patient education regarding GI conditions. Provide GI follow-up care. Provide care that is unique and specialized to Gastroenterology, nutrition, and hepatology.

Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current WI RN and APRN license and certification as an ANP, FNP, or ACNP.
  • Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the WI State Board of Medical Practice.
  • DEA registration required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification required within one year of hire date.
  • Possess ability to work independently/autonomously and collaboratively with other health care professionals.
  • Have extensive patient assessment skills using diagnostic methods and instruments and possess ability to develop appropriate plan of care, modifying as indicated.
  • Possess effective communication skills and interpersonal skills with patients, families and members of health care team.
  • Candidate must practice patient-centered evidence-based care.
