Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Bloodless Medicine The Center for Bloodless Medicine and Surgery for the Johns Hopkins Hospital has specific protocols that need to be implemented, developed, and maintained. Obtaining and recording a history and physical examination for patients requiring evaluation or management by the Bloodless Medicine and Surgery (BMS) team. These are primarily adult patients who cannot be transfused for personal, religious, or immunologic reasons. Determining causes and deciding on treatment modalities for pre-, intra-, and post-operative anemia in such patients. Completing consults for inpatients referred to the BMS team. Supervision by/consultation with a Hematologist for all of above will be available as needed. Optimization of outpatients with planned surgical or procedural interventions. The Advanced Practice Provider practices within the guidelines of the unit department, and institution and in accordance with the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Physician Written Agreement required and approved by the State of Maryland. Work schedule: Mainly Dayshift - occasionally working on call for holidays and weekends. Variable hours with both in-house coverage seeing patients, and on call from home by pager to answer questions and give patient management advice.
