About The Position

Shriners Children's Philadelphia is seeking a motivated Nurse Practitioner (PNP-AC or FNP) to join our inpatient unit. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a high-autonomy environment, collaborating closely with surgeons, residents, and an in-house intensivist to provide top-quality care for pre and post operative pediatric orthopedic patients. This is a PRN position working 10-hour day shifts with a 7:00 AM start time on an intermittent, as needed basis.

Requirements

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Prior advanced practice nursing experience with pediatric patients in an inpatient setting highly preferred. New graduates with prior pediatric bedside nursing experience are encouraged to apply.
  • American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), or equivalent board certification in applicable specialty area, such as Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-AC, CPNP-PC) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). CPNP-AC certification strongly preferred.
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the state of practice
  • Must possess eligibility for active DEA
  • Must possess Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS for HCP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Credentialing and privileging by the medical staff in accordance with hospital bylaws
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in pediatric assessment and care management.
  • Familiarity with pediatric specialty conditions and post-surgical care.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with families and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally competent, and family-centered care.
  • Competency in EHR systems and clinical documentation standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with one or more of the following strongly preferred: orthopedic, neuromuscular, or rehabilitation patient populations

Responsibilities

  • Manage a patient census of approximately 18–20 patients per day, dividing care responsibilities with one other APP.
  • Provide medical management and support of post-operative pediatric patients on the inpatient unit.
  • Perform procedures including chest tube and drain removal, wound care, and wound vac management.
  • Participate in daily rounds at the start of each shift.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, residents, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
