About The Position

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) will be based in the GYN (Women's) Clinic at the Pat Walker Health Center serving a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff of the University of Arkansas. Duties for this position include diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic gynecological health issues. Other duties of this position include education and instruction in health matters for individual patients including preventative care/screening. The APRN will collaborate with medical, nursing, lab and x-ray staff. The APRN's responsibilities will include participation in quality improvement processes and professional development. The APRN will collaborate with a PWHC Staff Physician also working in the GYN (Women's) Clinic and will follow all prescription protocols, privileging guidelines, and Arkansas State Board of Nursing rules. This position is Monday-Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Requirements

  • Licensure from the Arkansas State Board of Nursing
  • At least three years of practice in an outpatient GYN (women's) health clinic setting
  • Experience with insertion and removal of IUDs and Nexplanon
  • Current certification in BLS
  • Proficient knowledge of outpatient GYN office procedures (LARC) and experience with electronic medical record use/documentation
  • Ability to obtain medical history, evaluate, diagnose and treat each patient requesting care
  • Ability to provide sufficient information to allow each patient to make an informed consent
  • Ability to recommend diagnostic testing and/or specialty referrals
  • Ability to provide patient health education in both the acute treatment of disease and preventative care
