BASIC FUNCTION Nurse Practitioner provides primary care services, including assessing and managing patients in the clinic following established standards and practices.
Requirements
- Education: BSN, MSN preferred.
- Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program.
- Minimum of three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic setting plus two years of nurse practitioner experience.
- License : Nurse Practitioner licensed in the state of Kentucky.
- Certification by national certifying organization.
Responsibilities
- Perform physical exams, obtain medical history, and record findings.
- Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
- Interpret and apply data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan.
- Conduct one on one patient teaching related to health education and illness prevention.
- Provide p atients/families with information regarding medications and treatments.
- Prescribe or recommend medications, therapeutic procedures, or other forms of treatment.
- Refer patients to specialized health resources for consultation or treatment as needed.
- Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
- Administer medications and injections in compliance with state law and clinic guidelines and complete in-scope, in-office procedures like suturing minor lacerations.
- Discuss cases with Physician and other health professionals, when/as needed to prepare comprehensive patient care plan.
- Collaborates with care team in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
- Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
- Maintains and reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information.
- Posts tests and examination results.
- Participates in safety programs which may include assignment to an emergency response team.
- Participate in Quality Assurance activities and chart reviews.
